Waukesha Kitchen by Kerzner Remodeling and Construction

This Waukesha kitchen was small, dated and worn. The clients loved to entertain and there was simply not enough room for the kind of gatherings they had on a regular basis.

We were originally called in to design an addition off the rear of the house to accommodate friends and family. After lengthily discussions andconceptual drawings, our designer did a 360 and offered a radical option to the addition.

A virtual concept drawing was created with the main support and the dining room walls removed. New cabinets incorporating a center island, snack bar combination at near center were used. Tile flooring was installed with an arcto mirror the arc in the bar top and make a smooth transition from tile to carpet.

The result was a beautiful, open concept area that came in under budget and went on to win two remodeling awards for design and craftsmanship. The clients were thrilled with the open feel and they have all the rom need to entertain!

Oconomowoc Kitchen by Kerzner Remodeling and Construction

This home is a traditional 60s ranch located in Oconomowoc. The kitchen was dated and worn. The clients wanted to open the narrow room up and create a beautiful and functional kitchen. Our designer thought removing thewall between the kitchen and living room would be a perfect solution. The virtual design below was created to present this design. The clients were onboard immediately.

Traditional oak cabinets were chosen to create a beautiful, rich look. Cambria quartz countertops replaced the worn laminate. An island was strategically placed between the kitchen and living room and makes home for the range. A garden window was installed above the sink and allows sunlight to flood the room. Speakers were mounted in the ceiling, which allows the room to be filled with our client’s favorite music. Completing the look is a natural stone, travertine backsplash with metal deco tiles

Watertown Kitchen by Kerzner Remodeling and Construction

This Watertown home was in need of a kitchen face lift. The cabinets, most likely original, were worn and dated. The room was divided by a peninsula with cabinets above. The clients loved mission and wanted the design to reflect that style. Ourdesigner created a virtual design plan utilizing a similar floor plan to reduce the costs of moving the mechanicals.

Quarter-sawn oak, recessed panel cabinets were used in a light finish while dark crown and bottom moldings were used to highlight the design. A custom, tile backsplash was added with a geometric deco inlay positioned behind the cook top.

Simulated granite countertops complete the look. The result was a beautiful kitchen reminiscent of the mission era.

New Berlin Kitchen by Kerzner Remodeling and Construction

This contemporary home nestled in a wooded area has been almost completely updated over the years. Among the last projects was the kitchen. The original kitchen included; black laminate cabinets, gray Formica countertops and poorly positioned, track lighting.

The client’s tastes were a combination of contemporary and mission. Several design options were researched and a series of conceptual renderings created by our staff.

Due to the extremely limited space the final design included custom cabinetry with stainless steel appliances built in at nearly every turn. A Broan, edge lighted, glass exhaust fan creates a functional center piece in the overall design. The microwave, range, dishwasher and wine captain all find home in the custom made Sapele, Mahogany cabinets. Devon gray, Cambria, quartz countertops complete the look.

Energy efficient, LED under cabinet lighting illuminates the work space and highlights the countertops. Recessed, can lights and pendants were placed on dimmable switches to provide both, task and mood lighting as needed. Decorative reed glass was used in the glass front cabinets as not to reveal their contents. Theend result proved worthy of the homes design.

Oconomowoc Kitchen by Kerzner Remodeling and Construction

This ranch style home built in the late 70s, still had the original kitchen. The cabinets were worn and dated, and there was a half wall dividing the dining room from the kitchen, interrupting the flow of meal prep. There was a lot of space, but it was poorly utilized.

After a design consultation, our designer went to work to create a better design for both meal prep and entertaining. The client’s enjoyed fine wines and wanted to include a wine refrigerator and an area for sampling and entertaining.

The new design included the removal of the half wall, creating an open concept. Recessed panel, oak cabinets, topped off with crown moldings, were finished in a light stain taking full advantage of all the available, natural light. Cambria, quartz countertops in  Sutton tan, complement the cabinets. A wine refrigerator was built in to the new island that is lit by two pendant lights. A travertine and glass backsplash add just enough subtle color. Lastly a prefinished, engineered, maple flooring was installed to balance the room. The client’s are thrilled with the result!

St. Francis Kitchen by Kerzner Remodeling and Construction

Located in St. Francis this 50s ranch had the original kitchen. The clients had been saving for some time and had a very good idea of what they wanted. Basically an update situation.

The existing placement of an interior doorway made it impossible to place a dishwasher in a functional position. A dated built-in corner hutch took much more room than it offered in storage and a closet on the back side of the hutch crowded the kitchen.

Project plans and subsequent renderings were created to give the clients a look at the finished project prior to commencement. The interior doorway was moved to allow for the new design. All drywall was removed and electrical updated to code. Oak cabinets were installed and crowned. With the doorway moved, the dishwasher was installed conveniently near the sink. Solid surface countertops were installed with integral sink. New vinyl flooring completed the update.

Oconomowoc Lake Kitchen by Kerzner Remodeling and Construction

Located on the shore of Upper Oconomowoc Lake, this home’s kitchen was small and dated. Remodeled years earlier, the room was made smaller by the dark color trends of the 70s. Storage was at a premium and the client’s desire to have showcase cabinets for display items created an

even bigger challenge.

Working together with the client, our designer began by developing conceptual design renderings based on continual conversation. Key to the winning design was maintaining some of the elements created by the client’s late husband, like the stone and coral wine rack and barn beams.

Once the design was approved, custom maple cabinets were built to maximize storage. The light finish cabinets were topped off with “root beer” colored, custom milled crown molding to tie in with other wood finishes present in the home. The oak floors were refinished to complement the new design. Energy efficient windows were installed with prairie style grids. Earth-tone granite was custom fabricated for the countertops and full back splashes. Glass front cabinets were glazed with leaded panels to match the pattern in the windows. The result met the clients criteria for a new custom kitchen while preserving the memories built by her late husband. A year later, this home was featured in a local publication, for exceptional design, craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Before, mismatched and dark

Pewaukee Kitchen by Kerzner Remodeling and Construction

This home is located near a favorite lake in Pewaukee. Typical of the homes in the area, it is a small 1950S three bedroom ranch. The client, a retired widow, was extremely concerned with budget, but in of need extensive updating.

Like so many middle class homes of this era, the kitchen had been remodeled by amateurs. Add on cabinets, dark wood paneling and mismatched materials made for a dark and dreary kitchen. A portable dishwasher blocked easy access to much needed storage and created cluttered areas. Just prior to our association, she had replaced the floors and range. As a result, we were committed to keeping them both which placed some limits on the design.

Originally, the client had insisted on keeping the paneling . It was only after renderings were created showing new white walls that she became convinced to remove it.

White cabinets were used to create a bright open feeling and offer plenty of storage. Crowns, stained in a mid tone finish were added to tie in with woodwork throughout the home. A travertine and glass design back-splash was used to spice things up a bit. Wilsonart HD counter-tops blend nicely with the wall color and back splash while not breaking the bank. The project came in on time and on budget, we call that a win!
